Embroidered Felt Wallet

Embroidered Felt Wallet Picture

Small wallets and pouches like this one are very useful to keep money, coins, credit/business cards, and other small things in. I made this one last year and keep money in it with the bills folded in half.

It’s made with 100% wool felt and embroidery floss and very easy to make – here are some simple instructions:

1) Decide how big you want your wallet/pouch to be: an easy way to do this is to cut out a rectangle piece of paper and fold it into thirds.

2) Cut your felt out: either use the piece of paper as a template or measure the dimensions with a ruler, and cut your felt out with scissors or a rotary cutter.

3) Sew the pouch together: I used the blanket stitch on this wallet. You could also use whip-stitch or whatever works.

4) Cut an embellishment out of another piece of felt: You can do whatever you want for the decoration of your wallet. This one has a simple oval cut out for a leaf. Some other ideas are flowers, birds, or a simple tree silhouette.

5) Embroider the front flap: I would suggest drawing what you plan to do on a paper before you start so you don’t mess up. I only used two basic stitches for my wallet – blanket and chain stitch.

6) (Optional) Add a snap or closure: This one doesn’t have any way to stay closed but it could easily be done.

7) Enjoy and show off your amazing handmade wallet!

Hope this helped, and if you have any specific questions feel free to ask me in the comments.
